On August 6th , the Yucca Valley Town Council placed reauthorization of Measures Y and Z on the November 2024 ballot for voter consideration. If reauthorized, both Measures continue the existing voter-approved ½ cent sales taxes and does not increase tax rates. All funds raised by the measures will continue to stay local, and by law, no funds from the measures can be taken away by the State.
Measure Y, the proposed Town of Yucca Valley Measure Y Local Funding Reauthorization Measure, was placed on the ballot to continue funding for important resident priorities and services, such as public safety, and parks/street maintenance.
Measure Z, the proposed Town of Yucca Valley Measure Z Sewer Assessment Reduction/Clean Water Measure, aims to continue reducing the local sewer costs for residents by approximately 50%, helping to maintain a safe, clean, and reliable water supply.
The ballot language for Measure Y is as follows:
Town of Yucca Valley Measure Y Local Funding Reauthorization. To continue funding resident priorities in Yucca Valley, such as: Police, crime prevention, 911 emergency response; Fixing potholes, streets, sidewalks, infrastructure; Keeping parks/public areas safe and clean; And other general services, shall the measure reauthorizing the Town of Yucca Valley's existing 1⁄2 cent sales tax be adopted at the current rate (no increase), continuing approximately 3 million dollars annually until ended by voters, with oversight, audits, and all funds locally controlled?
The ballot language for Measure Z is as follows:
Town of Yucca Valley Measure Z Sewer Assessment Reduction/ Clean Water Measure. To continue the approximately 50% per year reduction in sewer assessments charged to pay for the sewer system that ensures a safe, clean, reliable water supply, shall the Town of Yucca Valley's existing 1⁄2 cent sales tax measure generating approximately 3 million dollars annually be adopted and reauthorized at the current rate (no increase) for 10 years, with audits, oversight, and all funds locally controlled?
