Did you know that the Town of Yucca Valley has a Youth Commission? The Youth Commission was established in 1995 to provide for communication between Yucca Valley’s elected officials and the young people of the community.
Students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible to serve on the Yucca Valley Youth Commission. A limited number of Youth Commissioners are appointed each year, with an effort to represent a variety of schools and grades. Previous commissioners may be reappointed to serve additional terms. Appointments are made in the fall with Commission members serving during the school year. The Youth Commission is not active in the summer months.
Students may apply to serve on the Youth Commission by completing an application.
The deadline to return a completed application for the 2024-25 program is October 30, 2024.
Each year, Youth Commissioners serve the community through volunteering for Town programs, hosting youth activities, and discovering creative and effective ways to communicate with the young people of the community. The Youth Commission is meets regularly with Town of Yucca Valley staff members to accomplish their goals. Activity reports are presented to the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Commission and a final report is given to the Town Council. Meetings are held monthly.
