Library Plaza Temporary Art Installation
The Town is seeking to work with local artists as part of its Public Art Program. The goal of the program is to support artists through the creation of public art to be placed throughout the Town to enhance the beauty and vibrancy of Yucca Valley, showcase artists and their work to a broader segment of the community, and bring art to unexpected places.
The Town’s intent is to have rotating art at various locations, including the central library plaza at the intersection of Highways 62 and 247, at the very center of town. During the winter holidays, the prominent location is home to the Town’s Christmas Tree display.
Artwork submitted for consideration for the 2025 installation should seek to enliven and transform the location. The art should be visible from a distance; therefore, artists may choose to utilize bold designs. Artists may submit more than one concept for consideration. All entries must be an original design, include all items required in the application packet, must be suitable for viewing by all ages and segments of the community, and be able to withstand outdoor weather elements. Individuals, or teams of artists, from Yucca Valley and surrounding communities, are invited to share a detailed explanation of their artistic vision for this installation. Youth and student artists in grade 7th or above are also strongly encouraged to apply.
The selected artist will receive a $500 stipend and $1000 in reimbursements.
Applications and requested documents must be submitted via email to publicart@yucca-valley.org by 5 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Artists are encouraged to attend the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Commission meeting on December 11, in person or virtually, to share information about their submission and answer commissioners’ questions.
The selected artist’s submission will be installed at the location in January 2025, remaining on display until November 2025. The selected submission will also be recognized in Town promotions and social media.

Monument Signage
The Town of Yucca Valley invited talented artists to submit conceptual artwork and designs for entrance monument signage. This is a unique opportunity to create a lasting impression for residents and visitors alike as they enter our beautiful town.
This is phase 1 of developing the Entrance Monument Signage conceptual artwork/design only. Phase 2 will consist of schematic design/construction/installation, wherein the Town will release a Request for Proposals to complete the project with a professional services contract.
Following the Monument Signage Call-for-Artists, twenty-three submissions were received and reviewed by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission with five designs selected to move forward to an eight-week public comment period. Once completed, the responses will be reviewed by the Commission who will determine their final recommendation to the Town Council. The Town Council will review all artwork, the process, public comments, and selections made by the Commissions and approve their final selection.
Review the proposed designs and submit feedback here.
