An Act to Improve the Town of Yucca Valley by Implementing State Commercial Cannabis Regulations
On August 9, 2017, Marijuana business proponents submitted to the Yucca Valley Town Clerk’s office a Notice of Intent to Circulate a Petition for the purpose of enacting an ordinance to incorporate California cannabis business regulations within the Town. The initiative proponents have requested a ballot title and summary to be prepared by the Town Attorney’s Office.
The initiative process is established and guided by the California Elections Code. After the ballot title and summary are prepared and the proponents provide the Town Clerk with the Publication Affidavit issued by a newspaper representative, the initiative proponents may then begin circulating the approved petitions among the Town voters.
The initiative proponents have 180 days to collect signatures. Once the completed petitions are submitted to the Town Clerk, the signatures will be verified to determine if the number of valid signatures meet the threshold to place the initiative on a future ballot.
For additional information on the initiative process, please contact Lesley Copeland, Town Clerk at firstname.lastname@example.org or (760) 369-7209 x226.
