The Town of Yucca Valley believes in open communication with regard to conducting the public’s business. The following information is provided to maintain transparency regarding the compensation of public officials and key staff members.

Other Benefits

All members of the Council and Executive Management Team receive the same medical and retirement benefits package that is provided to all employees of the Town of Yucca Valley. As of July 2011, the medical benefit provided is $1,050 per month. Benefit cost above this allowance is covered by the employee. Allowance in excess of benefit cost are available to the employee as deferred compensation.

The Town currently contracts with the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) utilizing the 2.7% @ 55 retirement formula, with employees hired prior to July 16, 2011 contributing 8% of pay toward retirement. As part of a three-tierd program, those employees hired after July, 16, 2011 use a formula of 2% @ 60 retirement formula and pay 7% toward retirement; and as of January 1, 2013 use a formula of 2% @ 62 and pay 6.25% toward retirement. 

The Town provides additional leave and vacation time to the management team accruing as follows:

  • Paid Time Off - To recognize exempt employees for mandatory attendance at after-hours meetings, engagements, travel and the like, and who do not receive overtime pay. Exempt employees receive 80 hours of paid time off annually.
  • Vacation Time- The maximum vacation accrual is 360 hours. The executive team accrues vacation based on years of service according to the following schedule:
  0 - 4 Years 10 days  
  5-7 Years 15 days  
  8-12+ Years Add one day annually w/ a max of 20 days per year
 
  • Paid Time Off and Vacation Time is not available to elected officials
