Hi-Desert Nature Museum
Nature's Beloved Son: Rediscovering John Muir's Botanical Legacy Exhibit
September 17 - December 17, 2017

In the spirit which John Muir embraced the botanical world, Nature's Beloved Son traces his travels through North America and presents vivid images of the actual plants that Muir held in his hands, carried in his pockets, and preserved for all time.

Temporary Museum Closure

We are renovating!
Over the course of the month we will move large exhibit cases, update exhibit content, paint walls, and
much more. We will re‐open on Thursday, February 1st 2018.
Come by and check out the new temporary exhibit“Echoes of Silent Spring” and all the other changes.

Holiday Craft Faire ~Santa Visit ~Snow Play Day
Take the whole family out for a pleasant winter outing at the Community Center. Enjoy shopping for some
unique gifts at the annual Holiday Craft Faire, which are all hand-made by talented local artisans. All through
the event door prizes will be awarded.
Bring your camera and visit Santa at the Museum, where he is looking forward to visiting with children.
A big heap of real snow is waiting for the young outside and with hot cocoa and cookies in the courtyard, the holiday season is in full swing!

2017 Holiday Craft Faire Vendors Wanted
The Town of Yucca Valley Annual Holiday Craft Fair will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from
10:00a.m. to 3:00a.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.  The Town will again partner with the
Hi-Desert Nature Museum to bring this year's Holiday Craft Faire to life!  There will be pictures with Santa
in the Museum along with a kids craft, hot cocoa and cookies.

Registration opens on Tuesday, September 5, at 8:00a.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
Space is limited.  See below for more information.

20th Annual Light Parade
Hosted by Yucca Valley Rotary

Letters to Santa
Santa's elves are coming to pick up your letters to Santa.  Drop letters in the special mailbox at the Community Center.  The elves will make sure Santa will write back.

Must enclose a self addressed stamped envelope
Letters will be accepted from November 1 through December 2.

Spirit of the Season
The Town of Yucca Valley and the Hi-Desert Chorus present a musical travel through the seasons of the year with a big holiday finale. The Chorus will be directed by Bill Barrett and accompanied by Clyde Grabski.

Paint Night
Participants in this class will learn how to create fantastic free-form images using fluid
acrylic pouring. This workshop is lead by Beverly Schmuckle.

Chamber Music at the Museum 2018
Saturday, February 17 at 7:00pm
Sunday, February 18 at 2:00pm

The February performance will feature “Frank Martinez”, an American Composer, artist multi-instrumentalist, and educator based in Los Angeles. He will join the Encelia Ensemble with the guitar.

Tickets are available for a donation of $15 for standard seating and $20 for preferred
